Aag // आग// fire is an image from a larger photographic series Nagar // नगर // Town, which documents the artist’s exploration of her roots. Although trips to India, where the artist was born, were a burden as a child, as an adult she came to realise that her Indian heritage was not only unavoidable, but essential to her sense of identity. Documenting moments in the streets of her birthplace became a way to access a world she had thought she had left behind.
