Karl Halliday
Quinces, 2020
Inkjet print on canson rag, framed
30.5 x 20.4cm
From the series 'in passing' (2018-22).
As Chair at Blindside, 2021 has been another very challenging year for us and the visual arts industry in Naarm / Melbourne. Having now endured the longest-running hard lockdown in the world, the pandemic has exposed the precarity of the livelihoods of artists, performers and those working in the creative field. As we prepare to move forward towards a ‘COVID-normal’ future, free-to-exhibit spaces like Blindside whose entire operation revolves around supporting artists, both financially and professionally, have never been more vital. In donating this artwork, I am giving my support back to Blindside in obligation of the great work they and Naarm’s rich ARI sector does.
