Archival inkjet print
74 x 93cm, edition 1 of 5

After the howls of wind and the sheeting rain, I woke to fallen trees, uprooted, turned out, their limbs lying across roads, paddocks, forests, leaning on each other. As I passed each fallen tree, one after another, I knew something significant had occurred. I could not avert my gaze. I felt a deep sorrow.

It is now weeks since the storms, but I still feel the same. I seek out the fallen trees and photograph them – I create their death portraits. A witness to their great passing. Testaments to their weight and to gravity.
