Healing Mode 227.a, 2021
Digital Collage, archival inkjet print on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 gsm
25.4 x 25.4cm, edition of 5
Healing Mode 227.a (2021) is a digital reflection on the impact of SARS-CoV-2, and the recycling of information, both true and false, throughout online communities. The gene variant HLA-DRB1*04:01, referenced in the work, is 3 times more likely to be found in asymptomatic carriers of Covid-19, and correlates to ancestry of Northern and Western European descent. With this background in mind, the collage juxtaposes graphics related to gene-sequencing, with tropes hinting at the predominantly white “wellness" industry and retro nature-made-digital imagery.
